Goodbye Mr.President

Is Kibaki still president? Yes. But as we prepare to say goodbye to the president and his family, here are some of my memorable moments of the Kibaki presidency.

1. The ‘First Lady’ on economic dressing.

2. When the President signed into law a bill giving him a hefty retirement send off package but rejected a second one that accorded MPs and other state officers almost similar comfort in retirement.

3. When the president asked us to hold dearly and permanently in our hearts, that he has only one wife, four children and relatives who are known.

4. When Mama Lucy addressed the crowd after shopping for hair products.

5. The President’s off the cuff speeches.

6. When Laban Ayieko alias “Fire” represented the President on Budget Day

Mr. President and his family provided good entertainment value. Goodbye Mr.President. Enjoy the retirement package. We ni mjanja!

Feed a Kenyan

Everyday, millions of Kenyans go hungry. Three square meals a day has for a long time been a luxury to many.

National and international press constantly report on the drought that is tormenting Kenyans; threatening the survival of families.

Hunger brings with it malnourished children and malnourished nursing mothers. It brings with it widows, widowers and orphans.

Children drop out of school because learning is impossible when you are going hungry for days at a time.

Resource based conflict becomes inevitable as Kenyans scramble for the little resources available.

As we take ownership of Kenyan sports champions, so must we take ownership of this problem faced by our brothers and sisters.

Kenyans are dying of hunger! Let us rally together and do something about it.
